Isaiah 57 – The High and Holy Place

Which is your bed? To His children, the Lord declares:

“The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away . . . He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.”

Who shall rest in His dwelling place?

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

But this resting place is spied by the wicked, Isaiah 57which they seek to overcome by “a wide mouth” with “the seed of falsehood”: “Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place: for a just man falleth seven times, and…
